Louis G Sokos
AVP of Specialty Pharmacy & Home Infusion Services, Allied Health Solutions, A Division of WVU Medicine
Louis joined WVU Medicine in 2006 as Assistant Director of Pharmacy for West Virginia University Hospitals. He worked in this role until 2014. It was while working in this capacity that Louis identified the need for the Specialty Pharmacy program at WVU Medicine. Louis has been leading the Specialty Pharmacy at WVU Medicine since its inception in 2014. Louis is responsible for operational oversight of the specialty pharmacy program, including strategic planning, financial analysis, contract management and human resource related issues. The specialty pharmacy employs operational pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, insurance specialists, business associates and couriers. The pharmacy is responsible for managing WVU Medicine patients from surrounding referral areas and is currently licensed in WV, PA, OH, KY, MD, and VA. Prior to his start at WVU Medicine, Louis worked at Merck & Co. in their scientific affairs division and practiced pharmacy in various retail settings including Giant Eagle and Walmart. Louis received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the College of Business and Economic from West Virginia University. Louis is adjunct faculty at West Virginia University School of Pharmacy.
Mr. Sokos is active in several pharmacy organizations including American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP), National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP), Vizient, Premier, and the West Virginia Pharmacist Association; Mr. Sokos is past Chair of the Section of Specialty Pharmacy Practitioners Work Force Development group for ASHP and is active on several committees in the WVU hospital network.
